I can't resist the chance to talk to myself publicly, so here is my own Faces of Williamsburg Weddings profile. That's me! Shayna of Williamsburg Wedding Design:
Introduce yourself:
My name is Shayna Weddle Walker and I head up the coordination experts at Williamsburg Wedding Design. Established in August 2004, we offer complete wedding planning services from Wedding Day Management (which is our answer to "day-of coordination") through to full-scale event production, in and around Williamsburg, Virginia and destinations beyond. We also promote Williamsburg, Virginia as the perfect location for destination weddings, as well as excellence and education in the wedding industry.
I am the primary writer for TheWilliamsburgWeddingBlog.com and an upcoming industry blog titled "Life in Weddings". I'm also a William & Mary alumna, class of 2000.
Oh! And I'm the mom of amazing 5 1/2 year-old super twins!
What makes your services unique?
While you'll find a lot (and I mean A LOT) of wedding "planners" online, Williamsburg Wedding Design is unique in that it is operated by an experienced, trained, reputable professional wedding planner. Seems like a given, but in this industry it is not, and we take serious pride in the fact that this is a business, not a hobby.
At Williamsburg Wedding Design, our guiding principle is that a wedding day is sacred. Everything we do in preparation for and execution of a client's event is done with that understanding, and the knowledge that we don't get a "do-over". No one can promise a perfect wedding day, but we do everything in our power to make it feel as perfect and magical as possible.
What do you love about Williamsburg weddings?
Williamsburg has so much to offer engaged couples - you can do anything from holding an intimate backyard wedding for a handful of friends, to hosting an affair fit for royalty at a world-renowned historic property. We have a winery, a waterfront replica of an Jamestown settlement-era church, a college campus teeming with tradition, glamorous country clubs and even a restored Freight Shed. There is something for almost everyone, and we're conveniently located right in the middle of the east coast. Add to that our incredible (if somewhat unpredictable) weather and scenery to die for, and you get a pretty neat wedding package. I like to joke that we prove you don't need sand to have the perfect destination wedding (although we have beaches too!).
If you could bring one celebrity wedding to Williamsburg, and you could be the official planner, whose wedding would you choose?
I would love to plan Josh Groban's wedding (here or anywhere else) - I think he's bound to have an incredibly sensitive, musically and artistically intense day, and that would be inspiring to plan. That, and I'm a fan. :)
